Our first block is Peas and Carrots.Because it's harvest time… and I'm in the mood for autumn. I decided to add one more color to my block for this week.
I added yellow to represent fresh picked squash from the garden. Here are the words of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as he left the office of the presidency. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. … the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Last Thursday night, while I was avoiding murderous motorcycling maniacs in Toronto, Gordon was at home hosting the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Stewardship Council's monthly meeting. Gordon is on the Council, and offered to have everyone over this month for a barbecue. I was supposed to be there but then my Uncle died, so I made all the salads before I left, and poor wee Gordon was responsible for making sure his guests were fed and entertained.
She put the Stewardship Council's logo on a delicious vanilla and chocolate layer cake! Here's the actual logo:Didn't she do an amazing job with the fondant? Gordon kindly saved a small piece for me, which I devoured upon my return.via. Maria Medina Maria Medina: Am I missing something? Please tell me. She's certainly capable and serviceable but dynamic, a virtuoso? I'm not there, yet. Which brings me to my point. I think we're so inundated with such less than mediocre talent in the Bay Area, particularly TV News, that anyone even remotely deemed "good" is catapulted into the greatness category. Medina isn't the only one and certainly the only woman. Maybe all that The Thing wanted was a hug? Did no one ever stop to ask? . Hello to everyone. I hope that you are all living up to your New Year's resolutions! I will have no difficulty living up to mine because I didn't make any. Having said that, however, a serious diet is required - I ate like a horse whilst I was in Egypt and my jeans feel more than somewhat snug! I dread to think what the weighing scales will say. Apologies for the two weeks of absence from the blog, apart from my seasonal messages which I scheduled to be posted before I left. There was WiFi at Jane's flats but it meant going down to the lobby to get a signal and I was having too good a time to break off and go and do some work. Sorry! The holiday in Egypt was fantastic. War is not the alternative, it's beenthe plan for a long time. E.
Saddam was executed and his sons gunned down.Let's call it even and go home. The good news is that Japanese real estate prices rose last year. Santa really did take it easy this year, and didn't buy TOO many gifts. Even so, Santa still spent too much money. Holland opened her gifts and picked out two little pieces of her Playdoh set to carry around the rest of the morning. Eden first opened a matchbox airplane from her stocking, then didn't want to put it down to open more gifts. The second thing she opened was a tube of three little plastic Sesame Street characters. "Urban garden sharing" is the latest trend. It's a terrific idea: one urban dweller might have some land but no time, Urb Two might have time but no money, and a third Urb has money but no land. Ideally, they all get together and everyone gets a tomato. My gardening hat is off to all those gentle souls able to make a go of garden sharing, and I'll try it too, just as soon as I finish shaking up this box of cats.
I'm the only gardener at this house. So I get the whole flower garden to my self. Sort of. The bird population is also keen on planting, and they don't have the same vision I do. I would like to see a rolling, undulating celebration of color and texture, with each wave of perennial beauty giving way to the next, azaleas to peonies to penstemons to agastaches, spiced with bulbs and punched up here and there with the vivid spark of annuals. NO SCREENSHOT, SORRY. ". VOB" QUALITY. I'm being inspired by paisleys this week. I've been lucky in my life to visit the Paisley Museum in Scotland many years ago to view their textile collection. Interesting that this museum was funded by a man named Peter Coats of the Coats thread manufacturing family. BTW, Coats and Clark is the owner of Westminster Fibers, Rowan Yarns, and Westminster Lifestyle Fabrics which is incidentally still selling paisley designs. I've found a second use for corks from wine bottles. Spent the weekend on the coast of Massachusetts at a Nicholas Family Reunion.
My cousin Wendy arranged for a garden tour of this amazing place.Brace yourselves, because this one is through the looking glass with Alice and the fucking Mad Hatter! No evidence sugar-free soft drinks aid weight loss – study Soft drinks made with artificial sweeteners, such as diet colas, do not help people lose weight and may be as big a part of the obesity problem as the full-sugar versions, academics have said. That's right, drinks which contain no sugar and no calories are just as bad as ones which do, apparently. Great, why didn't they just say so before. Hey Public Health England, you can shut the fuck up about fizzy drinks now and instead go and do something useful with the monumental amount of our cash you waste. Of course that's not going to happen, is it? There's still a lot to be milked out of this particular fake health lobbying cash cow. A paper by researchers at Imperial College London and two universities in Brazil contends that artificially sweetened beverages, often called diet drinks, are just as big a problem as those containing sugar. I don't think I'm the only one out there who woke up this weekend and said, omfg it's August. It's just fascinating how time flies. And I cannot wait to experience fall in the South. And there is one room that just exudes fall, and it's Sarah Richardson's Farmhouse Living Room - one of my favorites:The crest is my favorite part. If only I can find something so great for our living room!I love the colors and textures she chose. YAY! This is my first post! I am so excited! Still trying to figure this all out, but I'm getting there! I am a little behind in the times, I guess! Just wanted to post a card I made today. It is made with Inque Boutique's adorable chipboard flowers and stamps. Have a great day!! Hugs. Melissa. Hello AI fans!! Dana, here with a card featuring the Elephant Stacker stamp set and matching Slider die! Speaking of Stacker's have you seen the collaboration between Art Impressions and Simon Says Stamp??? The Terrier Stacker is so adorable, make sure you grab it, once it's gone it's gone!! To start my card I stamped the Elephant Stacker on some white card base and used my Spectrum Noir Marker's to color them! To make the elephants interesting I did vary the grey's I used when coloring them. Next, I used the Slider die and cut the frame from some polka dot pattern paper. I trimmed the stamped piece to fit inside the slider, along with another piece to cover the elephants. For the sentiment, I first cut a white flag from Avery Elle's Dotted Die, then stamped the sentiment. I added all the flags to the card and then the Slider with the elephants to the card.
Farts. The sweet Yorkie in the Victorian frame is my first Yorkie, Bitterman. He was our "little gentleman". When David and I were married, Bitterman stood up with us. It was the first time our Pastor performed a ceremony with a dog standing up with a couple. In the photo peeking out from behind, you can catch a glimpse of my grandmother. She too was a dog lover and loved cats as well. The little fellow in the square frame is my husband David when he was a baby. That's his Dad. Then determine where to use this item to access the vault and its contents. Each of these things is named by a single word. I guess contemplative monasticism doesn't pay like it used to. Anyway, this week, Mr, Sullivan would very much like you to credit him for the fact that he, Andrew J. Hephaestus Sullivan, has been warning that "We Are In Grave Peril, People!" since, like, April. It has been clear for months now, it seems to me, that this is a delusion. I made this argument at length in April, when Donald Trump was on the brink of securing the nomination. Everything that has happened since has only made my fears more pressing. Inspirational crystal quote of the day: “Open your eyes, look within.
Are you satisfied with the life you are living?." - Bob Marley Well folks, looks like our luck has changed. It's just your knee-jerk defense of whatever anyone at AHA says or does. Sophie Conrad, via House and HomeGreetings all,It's been a very long, and very productive week. I hope you all have a great Easter!.Teddy was in and out all day yesterday while it snowed. She has never liked the snow much which is rare for a chow chow. This seems to have changed this year. She can't get enough of it. I even saw her eating it yesterday. Hey mama. body. Who is this woman? She's Florine McKinney, that's who. Who? Florine McKinney. I found this MGM picture of her a couple of years ago and never followed up on what this actress ever did. In fact, when I went to retrieve the photo from the Hollywood Dreamland "archives", I failed to even remember her name, typing it as Florence McKinney. She seemed destined for obscurity. She still is, but not entirely. And as many times as I've seen that movie, I cannot recall Miss McKinney's appearance as the "Main Line Society Woman. And that was the end of Florine McKinney's movie career. But with the web one can quickly learn that it is merely another term for our old friend- random or stochastic uncertainty or variation. One can talk abut two types of uncertainty.
Stochastic is the random or some would say inherent or irreducible uncertainty. This introduction gives me a chance to quote one of my favorite insights borrowed from others namely the thought experiment described by Dr. Steve Goodman of Johns Hopkins which I have talked about before. Here is my paraphrased version of it which is crafted to elucidate the difference between the stochastic and the deterministic: Mr. Jones is faced with the need for surgery. .
